Over the past couple of years Wm. W. Meyer & Sons has formed a lasting relationship with Habitat For Humanity by installing insulation in houses that are being built in the Chicagoland area. Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization with the mindset that every man, woman & child should have a decent, safe, & affordable place to live; calls upon volunteers to help them build houses for low-income families.

Since Wm. W. Meyer & Sons had volunteered in the past on other houses in the area, Habitat for Humanity contacted them to see if they were available to help with a house Habitat for Humanity was working on in Carpentersville, IL. Delighted with the opportunity to help, they agreed to come & install insulation in the attic using an open blow application & the walls using the wall spray application.

One of the beliefs that both Wm. W. Meyer & Sons & Habitat For Humanity share is to build the most energy efficient houses while being as green as possible. In thinking of this particular job, Wm. W. Meyer & Sons

Selected to use the new Model 400e insulation machine. The Model 400e is a portable electric insulation blowing machine. Although it is portable, the Model 400e has the production power of a truck mounted insulation blowing machine. It is versatile enough to do wall spray, loose fill & beyond. The insulation blowing machine features adjustable blowers, air boost, & a pressure relief valve allowing complete control & optimal coverage.

The installation took 2 days, one for the wall spray, & the other for the attic. Both used cellulose for these applications. Wall spray application requires a special nozzle at the end of the insulation hose to spray water on the cellulose. The glue in the cellulose & the water coming from the nozzle mix & stick to the inside of the frame of the walls. After a few hours Wm. W. Meyer & Sons had successfully finished the wall spray application in the house with the Model 400e. On their next visit to the house they went up & blew cellulose in the attic, again using the Model 400e insulation blower.

As more & more houses in the Chicagoland area continue to be built by the hands of Habitat for Humanity volunteers, the relationship between Wm. W. Meyer & Sons & Habitat will only continue to grow. Wm. W. Meyer & Sons is a big believer of supporting the community that they work & live in. Today and tomorrow we are busy shooting a new video for the Meyer 400e. Today we are in the truck shooting the control panel. Tomorrow we are going out on location to a Habitat For Humanity House.
